Who Rescued Whom? :-)

“Patches (formerly Riley) was adopted by us about 4 months ago. He brings so much joy to our lives! We take Patches everywhere they will allow us! He loves going to the park and running with me and walking with my husband. He also loves to snuggle with us. He is what we call our 55-pound lap dog! From the first moment we met him, we knew he was the one, and I could not get him out of my mind. I am so happy that we found him and he found us. As much as we rescued him, he has helped us! After only 4 months I cannot imagine life without him!”

“Here is a picture of Arthur (remember the movie of the same name?) at ease in his new home. I refer to him as the bouncing bulldozer … he is a bit of work, but I think with some more training and constant discipline, his sweetness will shine and sparkle. Thank you so much for alerting me to his availability … Stamford Animal Control was wonderful. I so enjoyed working with you, and if anyone I know is looking to adopt, I will refer them to you.”

A Happy Birthday (and Every Other Day!) for Newton and His Family
/
“I just wanted to let you know how wonderful this past year has been with Newton. We consider May 28th his birthday (as that was the day we got him from OPIN), and he has been a true joy. He's doing wonderfully well and he certainly is a well-loved dog; we are sure the feelings are mutual. We took him to an event called Pooches on Parade the day before his birthday, to benefit a local shelter and rescue group. He won a prize as Oldest Dog, which came with a toy and -- best of all -- dog treats, so he was pretty pleased with himself. Here is a photo. Thank you so much for rescuing this remarkable dog. He's truly a special fellow who owns our hearts.”

Many, many more happy birthdays to Newton with his loving family!
That's MISS Davie Meowtthews, If You Please
/"THANK YOU so much for your help getting the cat, I am absolutely in love with her... Davie is a calico kitten who literally reached her paw out of her cage to grab my heart. The name is embarrassing, but I will explain ;). Do you know the band Dave Matthews? I always thought it would be hilarious to name a cat Dave Meowtthews... but of course I got a girl, so it's Davie Meowtthews! (I'm basically just pretending she's a boy -- haha!) She is great, sitting on my lap right now! I could not be happier to have company in my house, and someone who greets me at the door every time I come home. She is a total love bug and cuddles up to me every night. I am so glad I made the decision to adopt her!"

So are we, Anya, and we just know, so is Davie!
A Very "Special" Dog and a Very Special Relationship

"I am a vet tech, and I adopted Noodle (as I named him) from Stamford Animal Care and Control at the end of May 2012. He has contracted hind legs and no knee caps, yet he gets around well in his custom-made wheelchair from Eddie's Wheels, which you can see in the first photo.
"Noodle loves everyone, human or animal. He cries to go see people or animals. He even tried to play with two wild bunnies in my yard.
"Thank you."

No, thank you, MaryEllen!
Buddha's New Life

Buddha is an 8-year-old cocker spaniel who is now living the life of Riley in his new home!
UPDATE, August 2012: Buddha's family just sent us this new photo, entitled: Buddha Gets New Shoes.
We love it!!! -- Don't you?
Meeko has a new family...
/
He is so happy to have a new home and family. He joins our 8-year-old dog, Basil , and 8-year-old tuxedo cat, Socks. My daughters, my husband and I adore Meeko.
Tulip Learning the Ropes . . .
/"Tulip is awesome. She is a very loving little dog and is just about completely housebroken. She is 90% angel and still 10% Cujo, but we are working on that. The only problem she has is that she is still very aggressive with other dogs, people, cars going by, etc. . . . We think she is just scared. The trainer is helping with all that. She is a wonderful little dog and we are so happy to have gotten her. We really love her."

FAITH has her sight, is not deaf, & doing great!!
/
"We kept Faith's original name that Stamford Animal Control gave her. Faith is the female kitten that was attacked and partially blind. At that point the Shelter was not sure if she could see at all as well they were not sure if she was deaf. My husband and I are happy to say Faith is healthy and is doing great. She sees for the most part great, and she is not deaf. Faith is very affectionate and vocal and loves to eat!!! Faith loves to be picked up and she kisses you like a dog would, licks your face, your nose and mouth. She follows us around like a dog would and as soon as Faith hears the door open, she's sitting waiting for you to greet you. Faith gets along great with our 2 Maine Coon cats and they usually all sleep together. We are very grateful for Faith; she is an awesome creature! Thank You."

Marla: From foster home to forever home
/"I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know how Marla is doing. I took her to the vet yesterday for a checkup. She met the doctor and the rest of the staff, who loved her and commented on what a great dog she is...kudos! Melissa and I have been walking her at least twice a day for about 1-2 hrs., which she loves. I bought her an easy-walker harness, making it easier on both dog and human! Her first training class was last week, and again, she did an amazing job. She was able to focus on Melissa and me even with 6 other dogs in the room. The instructor used her several times as an example because she was such a great listener.
"We really want you to know how much we LOVE her. She is such a gentle soul, so sweet and loving, that we could not have asked for a better dog! We all love spending time with her, either outside walking and messing around in the yard, or scratching her belly and hanging out inside. My father calls her every morning from his room and she greets him with her tail wagging, gently rubbing against him in the most affectionate way! Every day brings us closer and closer and we realize how lucky we are to have her with us!
"Anyway, we will send you pics, but know that we are very grateful for everything that you have done for Marla and so many others! What a great foster mom!"

Spike (f/k/a Rico) the Jack Russell
/
"We adopted Spike (formerly known as Rico) in October 2009, a few days after his eye surgery. He was wearing a half-eaten "lamp shade" when we picked him up that Wednesday. We almost didn't meet him in the first place, as he was being housed in a cage in the cat room, and we weren't looking for a cat at that time. Knowing what I do now about how he feels about cats, I can't picture how he survived in the midst of all of them! We were almost going to leave when they told us, wait, we have one more in the cat room you could look at. For me it was love at first sight. There was something so endearing about this little bundle of energy and attitude. Having never had a Jack Russell terrorist (um, terrier) before, I did read up quite a bit in the beginning. Glad I did. He's a complicated little fellow, but way worth the chance we took on him. A love bug to be sure, he's just happy to be with his people. He can go from angel to devil-dog in a few seconds, but I cannot imagine my life without him. Thank you, Stamford Animal Care and Control, OPIN, Dr. Lazarus and Dr. Neaderland for giving Spike a second chance by providing him with the care he needed to get well and to continue to enjoy his life. We just LOVE him!!!"

Sylvia's Having a Warm, Cuddly Thanksgiving
/
Kush (f/k/a Beamer) is cushy in his new home!
/Beamer was a young, sweet mutt whom we brought to the Best Friends Super Adoption event in New Jersey, spring of 2010. Beamer captured the heart of a family who brought him to live with their other three dogs. A note from them:
"We love him so much, you have no idea! He is such a great dog, we can't imagine not having him now! He always has to be lying on someone, he thinks he's a lapdog! He finally found his voice - it's a very deep bark! And he is a tease, loves to play! He's thankful."
Happy Tails for Alfredo
/"I just wanted to give you a quick update on Alfredo. He's made about a 100% miraculous turnaround and is now the friendliest/cuddliest of the cats. It's amazing! He actually had only warmed up a little bit in the first 11 months and then when we moved to a new house in May, he got much more comfortable.
I've attached a picture of Alfie, in his most frequent spot on the couch, and a second one of the cats all together."
