Pets for Patriots

OPIN, in partnership with Stamford Animal Care & Control, is a member shelter of Pets for Patriots.

We’re proud to make the joys of pet ownership achievable and affordable to members of the military community. As one of the only organizations committed to both the military and homeless adult animals, the Pets for Patriots program has the power to bring positive change to lives every day.

ELLIE is a Pets for Patriots eligable dog, and she's looking for her forever home. Click photo for more info.

What makes Pets for Patriots and our member Patriots so special is our mutual commitment to the honorable adoption of adult shelter pets.

Our member Patriots come from all branches of the U.S. military and are in various stages of their military lives. Some are previous pet owners, while others are poised to discover the enjoyment of pet ownership for the very first time. Some want a companion pet to ease the stress of military transition or other emotional challenges, and others simply want a new best friend and loyal companion.

Every adopted dog or cat will receive:

  • Microchipping for pet identification
  • Vaccinations and spay/neuter surgery, if needed
  • Free weekly group dog training classes (currently on hiatus)
  • Member Patriot exclusives: two free in-home training sessions; $50 gift card to Choice Pet Supply; coupons to local pet supply stores, and 10% off veterinary care for the life of that pet, through participating partner veterinarians

For more information, please call Renee at (203) 918-5864 and visit Pets for Patriots.
